Girl Loses Weight To Cosplay

As you all may know. I cosplay, but Im not really a good cosplayer. Having this body of mine prevents me from doing some of the characters I wish to portray. But I found this article online which really motivates me a lot and I hope it motivates and give hope and inspiration to my fellow Cosplayers who wants to lose some weight.

MEET Rolan Ajo from Taiwan.

01-cosplay_diet

She is just like us. A girl who loves anime and is an otaku and loves to cosplay. About a couple of years ago. She weighed over 150lbg (70kg) when she first started to cosplay, but because of her figure she hated what she saw in the mirror and decided it was time to lose weight.

WOD Nation x Navy Seals Part III | “O” Course? Of Course!!

You dont have to be great to start

Welcome to the third part of our WOD Nation x NAVY Seals Invitational CrossFit throwdown!

We last left our 5 part series with our participants Rowing the rubber boats with perseverance. [post can be found here]. So lets follow them and see where they headed to after they rowed to shore.

WOD III
“Obstacle Course”

What Navy base would it be if they didn’t have an Obstacle course? And what kind of WOD would it be if they didn’t include the “O” course as well? And for any Crossfiter who enjoys a challenge, this WOD was definitely something that they all enjoyed.

So everyone had to accomplish the obstacle course within a time frame. One person per team will be running in the obstacle course while the rest of the will be working together to complete the Workout of the day. 1 Person will be doing the actual movement for example one will be doing the burpees while  the rest of the team is holding a pose like V pose or plank as another member of their team goes through the course. Once their teammate  completes the course they switch movements and teammates who does the course and WODS.

Here is the list of the WOD they did:

  1. Push up and Plank Holds
  2. Air Squats and Squat Holds
  3. Burpees and V hold
  4. Pull-ups and Hand Stand Holds
  5. Box Jumps and Reverse Plank Holds

Everyone worked really hard to complete all the workouts plus the obstacle course in the alotted time of 25 minutes. Personally speaking just watching them and following the participants around was already effort enough and a bit tiring since the sun was so high in the sky and the heat was intense. But they finished it! They didn’t stop. Some of them reached over 100 BURPEES!!! Goodness, I can only do about 10 burpees before I give up and lay down panting. But these people didn’t. Though they may not be soldiers, they are “Soldiers of fitness” Its amazing.

Words of encouragement filled the air as they reached their final stretch for WOD II.  I think all the people who were shouting and urging them on in high spirits really helps each particiapnt to really perform well and push themelves to even farther than their known limits. Working together as a unit yet again.

So after the grueling WOD II – “O Course”” everyone were all cheers and smiles. Their smiles were full of accomplishment and triumph. It was beautiful to see.

WOD Nation x NAVY SEALS | Row Row Row With Perseverance

Welcome to Part II of the WOD Nation x NAVY SEALS Crossfit throwdown!

So we left of the last post right before the first challenge of the day started. So What was it anyway?

Wod Nation x Navy Seals

If that photo is not clue enough for you then here is a description and other photos for that matter.

The first WOD was dubbed, “RUBBER DUCK” where teams of 5 had to paddle these rubber boats for 1000m total, competing for time. I had the privilege of riding one of the motored boat along with the rest of the media to watch the teams work together to reach their goal distance and back. Some were really impressive and made it in no time working together as a unit. Their rhythm was effective and their strength was without a doubt mind-blowing. Other teams struggled but never gave up. One team even dove into the ocean and tried to help by swimming their boat. (I would never have the guts nor the strength to do that.) The current in the bay was very strong according to one of the Navy that was with us on the boat but the participants still persevered and conquered. And most of these people have never had any experience in rowing AT ALL. So big big kudos to all of them.

I remembered when I was younger and my mother was participating in Dragon Boat Rowing in Manila Bay, and she told me that how they really had to work hard as a team to maintain a steady rhythm to be able to accelerate through the waters and currents of the ocean. She also told me that it was a full body workout,  you don’t just use your arms, but your thighs, and most specially your core. Dragon boats are smaller compared to these rubber ones they used during the WOD So I can only imagine the difficulty of the maneuverability of these boats.

I was inspired by all the participants during this event that I turned some of the photos I took into motivational posters. I would like to share them with you.

Perhaps I should try my hands on Dragon Boat Rowing sometime because I doubt I can go to the base just to row *laughs*. I would like to experience this kind of team sport. Demanding yet fulfilling.

Well this concludes the WOD 1. I wasn’t able to watch the other teams compete during the WOD 1 because I followed the first batch to WOD II. Which I will post on Friday. So Stay tuned!

WOD Nation x NAVY SEALS | Part 1 Let the WODs Commence

Seal Team Fitness - NAVSOG Box

I have been sitting in front of my camera, iPad, and computer for a few days now since Saturday trying to organize my thoughts on the WOD Nation x Navy Seals Invitational Crossfit Throwdown.

Okay first off what is this even all about? To put things simple its a Crossfit event. If you are going to ask me what Crossfit is, I will just link you over to NERDFITNESS because his indepth and interesting article on “A BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO CROSSFIT” covers pretty much everything on the community including both pros and cons of Crossfit.

The event was hosted at the NAVSOG base in Cavite.

NAVSOG O Course

There are 4 WOD (work out of the day) Which consists of and not limited to, Rowing/ paddling a rubber boat, running, Circuits, obstacle course, a Hero WOD dedicated to a fallen service man, and individual events, of course not to mention the boodle fight at the very end.

So this is how I am going to section off the blog posts so not to make it too photo heavy and too long for a single sitting. I will separate them according to certain events and topics.

I traveled all the way to Cavite which is West from the city where I live. Sangely Point is a peninsula of sorts. It was a relatively easy travel time with the help of my trusty GPS and no-shame-direction-asking skills. I eventually made it to the Navy Base without a hitch. Although upon arrival I got held back because I was apparently in the list of Media-people. But it got cleared out after a few minutes (30 mins).

When I finally arrived at the area where the WODs will be held there were already a lot of people who were eagerly waiting for the fun and sweet torture to begin. Some were talking, others were warming up and stretching, there were even some children who came to support and cheer on their parents through their WODs.

Crossfit box Jump

They were all so eager to start that they even started doing some box jumps the moment this baby was brought out. Honestly, I admire them for being able to do these things. I can’t even jump higher than a foot I think.

After taking some photos of various people (I didn’t have the courage to talk to them at the time since I had just arrived and I usually am very shy at first), I walked around a bit.

The games was sponsored/ fueled by Gatorade and GNC Philippines. So all the participants and the people who were there to attend the games got to have a free taste of the GNC products, (I unfortunately couldn’t because it was whey protein drink and I am lactose intolerant).

A short welcome speech and commencement exercises was done, like the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, and an oath to (something) for all the participants of the day’s WOD challenges. And of course photo session while everyone still looks fresh and clean.

I will conclude this for now. Because the next post will be about the first WOD. I am trying to to make my posts too PHOTO HEAVY to that it won’t lag up your computers/laptops and other browsing devices including phones and tablets.

I promise the next post will be better than this one. I spent most of my time fixing photos and figuring out how to dissect the events into chewable bite-sized posts.
