Something just occurred to me. I was on tumblr.. well I’m probabaly still on tumblr right now. but the point is. I was on tumblr and I was looking through all my followers and all the people I’m subscribed too when I realized something.
There thousands and thousands of people, mostly girls, who are in a journey to skinny. More often than not, they are looked down upon because of their Thinspo blogs. Can you blame us for looking up to women/girls whom we perceive as beautiful and skinny? Some of you will say yes and some of you will say no of course. But one must think… why are we looking up to the same “type” of women? Maybe its because of the media industry who advertises these illusions of perfection in the form of heavily photoshopped women.
Take this video for example
Our image of perfection and beauty is so distorted. But weather we like it or not, we still conform to the media’s distorted view of perfection. Does that make us (those who thinspire) horrible people for trying to seek this kind of perfection?
No one has the right to judge anyone because I believe each and every one wants or secretly seeks to be accepted in society and to fit in with the media’s view of beauty.
To tell you the truth I admire each every one of those who are trying to battle the fat. At least they are trying to make a change in themselves that will not only make themselves happier but also do something that benefits them in the long run. Imagine if all those THOUSANDS of girls succeede in their journey to skinny? The percentage of obesity will drop. Sure they might be doing some drastice measures in order to win the battle. Its similar to how a great nation is formed, through blood, sweat and tears. Wars were fought, Sacrifices had to be made. Po-“tay”-toe Po-“tah”-toe. Its the same thing.
Give them the chance to change…
Give us the chance to make a difference…
